SRF Foundation, formerly known as the “Society for Education and Welfare” was setup in
1982 as the Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) arm of SRF Ltd. It runs one of the largest
community programs in the country, imparting quality education and vocational training
programs to underprivileged children and youth.
The Foundation builds on the heritage of its founders, who believed and continue to believe
in contributing to the society particularly through education. They have all been instrumental
in establishing institutions such as Lady Shri Ram College, Shri Ram College of Commerce,
Shri Ram Research Institute, The Anglo Sanskrit School, along with The Shri Ram Schools in
Gurgaon and New Delhi in 1988, as well as SRF Vidyalaya in Chennai in 1992.
In the above context, SRF Foundation articulates its Vision as: “Achieving quality education
and training that inspires children and youth from all sections of the society to achieve
individual aspirations and building a better society for tomorrow, through the knowledge,
skills and values acquired.”
To provide quality education and holistic development to children of rural areas, the
Foundation aims to create ‘Centers of Excellence’ by transforming Government Schools into
“Model Schools”.This is being achieved by transforming them physically, academically and
digitally. Under its Rural Education Program, the SRF Foundation is providing quality
education and is positively impacting the lives of 78,714+ students in 269 schools across 21
locations in nine Indian states.
The Foundation is integrating school dropouts and unemployed youths between the age
group of 18-25 years into mainstream workforce by equipping them with appropriate skills
under the rural vocational skills program. Through the Vocational Skills & Livelihoods
Program, the foundation has imparted training to 6,000+ youth at its six skill centers,
established in three Indian States, with more than 80% learners gainfully employed.
